Buying Guide: Pet Purifiers for Less
Keep these points in mind before you buy.
Count the filter cost
Check the price and life of the replacement filter before you buy. A cheap purifier with expensive filters can cost more over two years.
Pre-filters catch fur
Pet hair and fur are large, so a pre-filter catches them before the HEPA filter. Vacuum or wash it often in shedding season.
Carbon for pet odors
EPA says a purifier with a high CADR and an activated carbon filter can filter both particles and gases, which suits litter box and dog odors.
